Weekly New Mexico Hay Summary
Week ending May 17, 2008

   Compared to last week, alfalfa hay prices steady.  Movement and 
inquiry good.  Southern and southwestern regions are 90-100% into 
first cutting.  Eastern and southeastern regions are 30-60% into first
cutting.  

Eastern region:

Baled Alfalfa: Large square bales: Premium and Supreme quality: 190.00-
210.00, delivered to Dairies.  Fair quality ground hay delivered to feedlots
132.00-135.00 per ton.  Wheat hay 140.00 per ton delivered.

Southeastern regions:

Baled Alfalfa: Large square bales: Premium and Supreme quality 187.00-
190.00 delivered.  Premium quality small bales 200.00-215.00.

Southern and Southwestern region:

Baled Alfalfa: Large square bales Premium quality: 195.00-200.00, delivered 
to dairies. Small square bales Premium quality: 6.50-7.00  per bale out of field,
210.00-220.00 per ton delivered.

Horse quality grass hay 6.00 per bale.
