From: jenn@gavoli.com Sent: Saturday, July 29, 2006 3:47 PM To: MarketingClaim Subject: Docket No. LS-05-09. Dear Sir or Madame, This letter is to express my concerns over Docket No. LS-05-09. I strongly believe, as do my customers, that the term "Grass Fed Beef" has always meant, and should CONTINUE to mean, beef from cattle that are raised on pasture, out in the open, and free of growth hormones and antibiotics, as nature intended. To propose legislation that allows the classification and the definition of "Grassfed" to mean the the cattle may be raised in confinement, and fed harvested forage, corn silage and other grains that have not been separated from their stalks as well as antibiotics and hormones is simply anathema to the basic TRUE definition of "Grass Fed Beef", AND it is misleading to consumers who are looking for a healthier option than your typical beef in the supermarket that has been pumped full of antibiotics and growth hormones. Before this proposal is finalized, it should be re-worded to specify that if the beef is to be labeled "Grass Fed" it must be raised on PASTURE and not in confinement, and in order to be considered "100% Grass Fed Beef" it ought not be fed antibiotics in its feed, nor hormones. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Jennifer Fiduccia Milestone Farms jenn@gavoli.com
