Cost Share Annual Reports and Budget
During fiscal year 2011, USDA reimbursed certified organic farmers over six million dollars through the Organic Certification Cost Share Programs. This was an increase of over 20 percent from fiscal year 2010.

Annual Reports

The annual reports to Congress provides a state-by-state overview of:

  • Funds used by each state
  • Funds reimbursed to certified organic farms and businesses
  • Number of certified organic farms and businesses served

Participating State agencies also submit annual reports to the USDA to summarize their cost share-related activities. Reports are not yet available for all states in all years.

Financial Data

From fiscal year 2008 to 2012, 49 States participated in the Organic Certification Cost Share Programs. USDA provides cost share funds to each participating State depending on its number of certified operations and previous use of funds.
