QAD’s Auditing Services Branch (ASB) provides a family of user-fee-funded, audit based third-party verification services to the agricultural industry under its Quality Systems Verification Programs (QSVP). The QSVP are designed to provide suppliers the opportunity to assure customers of their ability to provide consistent quality products or services. Under a QSVP, a supplier's documented quality management system is verified through independent third-party audits conducted by QAD staff. Common processes verified by this service include those related to production, processing, feeding, raising, or those required by foreign governments or other customers.
During an audit, a client’s documented quality management system is verified to assure customer requirements and marketing points are being adhered to. In order to ensure consistent auditing practices and promote international recognition of audit results, QAD auditors utilize the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 19011:2011 guidelines for quality management systems auditing. The QSVP General Policies and Procedures (PDF)
describe the audit process in detail.
For approved programs, the verified process points are documented and available for public view through the links below. Additionally, all process points verified by QAD must be truthful and not misleading. Should a client choose to include a QAD-verified process point on a product label, the statutory authority for the product label claim determination rests solely with other regulatory agencies, such as the Food Safety and Inspection Service for claims related to meat and poultry products, and not AMS.
