The Laboratory Division has speciality laboratories located in Blakely, Georgia and Winter Haven, Florida. The laboratory testing program is non-regulatory and analyses are performed on a fee for service basis.
The Blakely Laboratory provides food chemistry testing services for a variety of agricultural commodities, including meat and meat products, bakery products, and dairy products. The laboratory can also test for the presence of aflatoxin, ochratoxin, and vomitoxin on domestic and imported nuts, grains, and dried fruit. The facility is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited for aflatoxin analysis on nuts and nut products.
The laboratory participates in a number of proficiency check sample programs for aflatoxin (i.e., pistachios, peanuts and peanut butter) and for oilseed composition. The laboratory serves as a reference laboratory and provides training in analytical testing procedures.
The Winter Haven Laboratory provides specialized food chemistry testing services for imported and domestic citrus products.
