NSL Bacterial Pathogen Testing  
Bacteria are detected using the latest and most effective technologies to ensure fast turnaround times and fair cost.

 
Most methods are performed under ISO 17025:2005 accreditation. Methods resources include AOAC Official Methods of Analysis (OMA), FDA Bacteriological Analytical Methods (BAM), FSIS Microbiology Laboratory Guidebook (MLA), Codex Alimentarius and the Food Emergency Response Network (FERN).

 
NSL is an active FERN laboratory. Bacteriological testing is performed according to ISO 17025:2005 in all agricultural and seafood products. NSL services may be included as part of a production monitoring program.

 
Testing includes but is not limited to:
  • Enumeration of Escherichia coli and the Coliform Bacteria
  • Aerobic (standard) plate count
  • Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (O157:H7, O104:H4,non-O157 STEC)
  • Salmonella
  • Shigella
  • Listeria monocytogenes
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Yeasts and molds
  • Thermoduric Acidophilic Bacteria (TAB)
  • Antibiotics in Meat (Seven Plate Method)
  • Toxins and Veterinary Drugs (ELISA and bacteriological methods)
