Welcome to the new Quality Assessment Division (QAD) - a combination of the former Poultry Grading, Grading and Verification, and the Standards and Technology divisions. The QAD will continue to provide a full scope of grading, certification, auditing, and standardization activities for poultry, shell eggs, beef, lamb, rabbit, and related commodities. The merger of these divisions marks a major milestone in AMS' continued efforts to provide cost effective services to industry customers through streamlined business processes and efficiencies.
QAD will be based in Washington, D.C., and led by Jim Riva. Riva brings extensive USDA experience to the new Division that includes commodity grading and the establishment of a variety of audit-based programs to facilitate marketing of agricultural products domestically and abroad. Three branches will comprise QAD: Standardization, Grading and Auditing Services, and Business Operations. David Bowden will serve as the Standardization Branch Chief; Justin Keeley as Grading and Auditing Services Branch Chief; and Stephen Cave as Business Operations Branch Chief.
