Guava Inspection Instructions

There are no U.S. grade standards for Guava. These instructions have been developed by the Specialty Crops Inspection Division to assist officially licensed inspectors in making inspections, writing certificates and to assist in the proper identification of specialty type fruits and vegetables.

Guava (Feijoas) is another tropical fruit with flavors from sweet to acid and a distinctive aroma that may be mild and pleasant to strong and penetrating. It is the fruit of an evergreen tree native to the tropical areas of the United States. It may be eaten raw, cooked or processed for canning.
